Frequently Asked Questions

What is STIGMA?

STIGMA is a mental health community that uses asynchronous messaging to connect you with people who share your lived experience. It is NOT a public social media site. There are no public profiles, no comment threads, no influencers... in other words, no vanity. This is a safe space to practice talking about your mental health.

Does STIGMA share my information and data with third parties?

STIGMA is built using third party services. However, we want to assure you that none of your data is being sold to any third parties for a profit. We treat your presence here in our community with reverence and vow to make sure your data is safe, secure, and private. Take a look at our our privacy policy.

I am encountering technical difficulties with the STIGMA App. How should I address this and who should I reach out to?

The STIGMA team aims to help as soon as possible should any technical issues arise. In the event of a problem with the STIGMA App itself, please contact us at [email protected] and include any details on the technical difficulties you are experiencing. We will respond as soon as we can!

How is this different from other mental health apps?

The world tells us we need to "normalize" conversations about mental health, but then offers us very few safe spaces to practice talking about our mental health. STIGMA is a safe space to find others who understand your lived experience and communicate via asynchronous messaging.

Is this like Telehealth? Are there licensed therapists on the platform?

STIGMA is not a replacement for therapy or treatment. It is a tool that increases our readiness for those things by giving us a safe space to practice talking about our mental health.

What if I'm experiencing a mental health crisis?

We're so sorry you're hurting and want you to know that you're not alone.
